Christmas on the Cumberland Grand Opening Scheduled
Join the City of Clarksville and US Bank as we celebrate Christmas on the Cumberland’s 16th year with a grand opening ceremony, Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. at the McGregor Park RiverWalk and Museum. The grand opening will feature the official lighting of the Cumberland by Mayor Kim McMillan along with special guests, Channel 4 News Snowbird and Santa Claus!
Christmas on the Cumberland will be open nightly from 5:00 to10:00 p.m., Sunday through Thursday and 5:00 to11:00 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays through January 3, 2015. Admission to the event is free.
Family friendly activities will take place from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., November 28-29, December 12-13 and 19-20.  This year’s activities include caroling, making reindeer food, letters to Santa, Christmas card creations, gingerbread house building, elf school relays, and ornament making. Visit www.cityofclarksville.com/christmas for a schedule of events.

Giving on the Cumberland Returns to Christmas on the Cumberland
Giving on the Cumberland will continue this year and encourages visitors to help local nonprofits in need. From November 25-December 20, “request ornaments” with items of need from local nonprofit organizations will be placed on Christmas trees in the McGregor Museum.
Visitors to Christmas on the Cumberland will have the opportunity to take a “request ornament” and bring their donation to the Parks & Recreation main office (102 Public Square) at any time, or to the museum December 19-20, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., where you’ll also be given a chance to meet the participating nonprofits.

Register now for December Swim Lessons
Every month, the Indoor Aquatic Center offers five comprehensive levels of swimming lessons as well as Mommy & Me, Preschool, Adult and Adaptive lessons to the public! The next two-week session will be held December 1-11. Cost is $35 per session, or $15 with a pool pass.
Registration is currently underway at recpro.cityofclarksville.com. If those dates don’t work with your schedule, sign up for one of our upcoming sessions: January 5-15, February 2-12, March 2-12 or April 6-16.

Christmas in Occupied Clarksville
Make plans to visit Fort Defiance Interpretive Center on Sunday, December 14 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. to experience the holidays as soldiers and civilians did in the 1860’s.
Visitors to the event will be able to step back in time and see period decorations, visit with a nineteenth century Santa, and enjoy eggnog, cakes and caroling. The event is free and open to the public.
